Gauze Swab or Sponge is a Piece of Absorbent Cotton Gauze Cloth used to apply medicine on wound. It is known as surgical dressing swab also. After applying anti-septic medicine to injured part this swab is applied to covered the wound with medicine so that medicine stays near to the would and thus it keeps wound moist, wet and free from dust and foreign particle. Different net size is used for different wound. Because of it's net structure it helps to the would part to breath and supplied oxygenated air to the would part/injured part and helps healing fast. Because of it's net structure it does not adhere/stick to the would and can be removed easily in comparison to cotton dressing. Some times a small piece of flat cotton is also used between two layers of gauze to give maximum absorption to the oozing wound and thus it helps drying the wound and promotes fast healing.
