The UWS was formed in 1998 and it is a membership, non-governmental organization engaged in environmental policy research, advocacy, education and awareness programmes. The Society's mission is to promote conservation of wildlife and the environment. This is achieved through: Providing forum for addressing, advocating and debating conservation issues, Providing informed and non-biased information to the government on environmental issues in Uganda, Seeking to influence policy formulation for better environmental management, Raising awareness about the environment and wildlife. The Society works with the Government of the Rebublic of Uganda, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Community Based Organizations (CBOs). Persons, Institutions (National, Regional and International) who are engaged in natural resource management programmes and Local communities.
