CITET is a non government institution under the Ministry of Environment and Land Use Planning. It was established on 25 March 1996 By act of parliament and inaugurated 6 June 1996 by H.E, the President of the Rebuplic. The CITET was set to satisfy the needs of Tunisia and other countries in the Arab-African and Mediterranean region in terms of transferring, adapting and promoting ecological friendly technology. The CITET aims to provide to help in strengthening skills and capacities building in protecting the environment, managing natural resources and mastering environmentally friendly technologies, in accordance with options taken at national level and regional priorities. Sustainable development is at the heart of the CITET's mission. The Center is located in Tunis, close to the Tunis-Carthage international Airport and one of the capital's largest industrial zones. It is close to a number of ministries, technical institutes and universities involved in fields relevant to the CITET's activities: environmental issues and land use planning, agriculture, infrastructure and public works, telecommunications, transport etc.
