NREA was established in 1986 under the MINISTRY OF ELECTRICITY AND ENERGY to act as a national focal point for expanding efforts to introduce and develop renewable energy technologies to Egypt on commercial scale along with deepening the local capabilities to use, produce and develop its equipment in different applied fields, thus contributing to limit fossil fuel use and, protecting the environment from pollution. NREA is entrusted to plan and implement renewable energy programs in coordinating with other concerned national and international institutions. NREA has a well qualified proffesional staff in most of the renewable energy fields including about (122) engineers supported by a cadre of 109 trained technicians, 63 accountants ans economists besides the administrative staff.
