ERI is a postgraduate research arm of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at UCT. Its work focuses on current sustainable energy related issues and needs, both at national and regional level. It includes both experimental work and techno-economic studies. Presently, the focus is on sustainable energy, including environmental matters, greenhouse gas issues, integrated energy planning and energy efficiency, pertaining to South Africa and Africa as a whole.
